Course: Real-time motion capture applied

The course took place at the Mocap studio at KTH 5-14 March 2018.

With motion capture (mocap) technology, the movement of objects or humans can be used to animate digital characters or objects. Mocap technology is well-established in the film and computer games industry, where it is often used to create digital characters such as Gollum in the Lord of the rings films. Over the past few years, mocap, like other 3D technologies such as 3D scanning, VR and AR, has undergone a democratization process and become available to individual actors and artists.

The course was held by Simon Alexanderson, Esther Ericsson and Martin Christensen.

Simon Alexanderson is a researcher from KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm with interests in data-driven animation and motion capture. Beside his research, he has developed and worked on several film and theater projects involving previsualization, live animation and digital puppetry.
